Karin Hakl (born November 7, 1967 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian lawyer, politician ( ÖVP ) and former member of the National Council .

Karin Hakl attended elementary school in Innsbruck from 1974 to 1978 and then the local high school in Sillgasse, where she graduated from high school in 1986 . After graduating from high school, Hakl studied law at the University of Innsbruck and completed her studies in 1993 after writing a 34-page thesis with the academic degree Mag. Iur. from. From 1996 to 2000 she attended the course for European law in Schloss Hofen and in 2003 obtained a Master of Laws in European law.

Hakl completed her legal internship at the Innsbruck Regional Court between 1993 and 1995, and from 1996 to 2000 she was the authorized signatory and head of the legal department of the “ Brenner Railway GmbH ”.

Karin Hakl was deputy chairwoman of the Austrian Economic Association in the Innsbruck-Stadt district from 2002 to May 2014 and was development policy spokeswoman for the Austrian People's Party from 2002 to 2005. She was the spokesperson for research, innovation and telecommunications for the Austrian People's Party and a member of the Austrian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Karin Hakl was a member of the National Council from February 8, 2000 to October 28, 2013 and had in the XXIII. Legislative period holds a mandate in the electoral district of Tyrol . She was deputy chairman in the committee for research, innovation and technology as well as in the transport committee.

In March 2012, Karin Hakl came under public criticism for her campaign funding. Her election campaign in 2008, which led to her entry into the National Council as ÖVP telecom spokeswoman , is said to have been financed by Telekom Austria with 20,000 euros . In connection with the allegation of the financing of her election campaign by Telekom Austria, Hakl suspended her function as telecommunications spokeswoman for the ÖVP on March 27, 2012. The investigation itself was discontinued in 2014, however, in a further investigation in the Telekom case, based on an indictment dated May 24, 2017, however, this matter was resumed and ultimately discontinued without result.

Karin Hakl is the daughter of an economist and painter and the former general director of the Raiffeisen Landesbank Fritz Hakl. She has a younger sister and a younger brother.
