The MOLDAU to MULDE were tender locomotives of the Leipzig-Dresdner Eisenbahn-Compagnie for mixed service.
history
As early as 1866 and 1868, the Leipzig-Dresden Railway had procured type 1B n2 locomotives from the Esslingen machine factory . The nine locomotives from 1874/75 differed from the older series mainly by the modern Crampton boiler and the internal Allan control.
At the LDE, the locomotives only had names, company numbers or a generic designation did not exist. When they were taken over by the Royal Saxon State Railways in 1876, most of them were given new names to avoid duplication. In addition, they were given the company numbers 604 to 612 and were listed as class K III .
In 1885 the generic name was changed to K II and in 1892 the new company numbers 696 to 704 were assigned. From 1896 the generic name was only II. From 1900 the company numbers were increased by 2000 and the nameplates were omitted.
The first locomotives were retired from 1904. Some were still part of the newly founded Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1920 . In the preliminary re-designation plan, the new road numbers 98 7301 and 7302 were planned for two locomotives, but none were re-designated.
In 1923, the last locomotive , the former MOLDAU, left the company.
