Karin Lundqvist (born October 5, 1981 ) is a Swedish beach volleyball player .

Career

Lundqvist played her first Challenger tournament in 1999 with Petra Ekblom . In 2000 the duo took part in four open tournaments on the FIVB World Tour . The following year Lundqvist took part with Mirlinda Jonuzi at the World Championships in Klagenfurt , but could not win a set and was eliminated after the preliminary round. In 2004 she formed a duo with Sara Uddstahl and won the national championship for the first time. Lundqvist / Uddstahl completed their first Grand Slam in Marseille . After they did not get past 33rd place in their first year together on the World Tour, they finished 17th in open tournaments four times in a row in 2005. In 2006 they reached two finals of the satellite tournaments and were thirteenth in Warsaw .

The following year Lundqvist got together with Angelica Ljungqvist and was again Swedish champion. The Åland Open 2007 and the Barcelona Open 2008 both finished Lundqvist / Ljungqvist in 17th place. At the Grand Slam in Gstaad , they came in fifth for the first time in the top ten. They achieved the same result in Mysłowice and Sanya . In 2009 they started with two ninth places in Brasília and Shanghai . They then competed at the World Championships in Stavanger . In the last group game they defeated the later quarter-finalists Turner / Akers , but could no longer prevent the premature end. After the World Cup, the two Swedes finished ninth again at the Grand Slam in Marseille and the Barcelona Open.

From 2010 to 2012 Lundqvist played on the Swedish tour and won three national titles in a row. Since she had two Brazilian partners with Naiana and Raquel Ferreira in the first two years , she also competed on the South American national tour at the same time.

In 2013 she formed a duo with Nina Grawender and returned to the World Tour. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt , Grawender / Lundqvist prevailed in their preliminary group in front of two German duos, but were then defeated by the Swiss Forrer / Vergé-Dépré in the second round .
