Karin Schwiter (born November 9, 1977 ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

biography

Karin Schwiter grew up in Lachen . She studied geography at the University of Zurich and received her doctorate in sociology from the University of Basel in 2010 . Since then she has been working in the field of economic geography at the University of Zurich. She was part of Andrea Maihofer's research group, which was awarded the 2016 CORECHED Educational Research Prize by Federal President Johann Schneider-Ammann .

Schwiter lives in Lachen.

politics

Between 2004 and 2018 Karin Schwiter politicized in the Cantonal Council of Schwyz . In 2017/18 she was its President, as the youngest woman in the history of the Canton of Schwyz . At the end of her presidential year, she resigned from the cantonal council, according to her own statements, in order to “face a new challenge”.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections 2019 Schwiter is running for a seat in the National Council .
