Karina Odenthal

Karina Odenthal (born August 15, 1961 in Paderborn ) is a German writer and dramaturge . She lives near Heidelberg and in Berlin .

Life

After graduating from high school and a twelve-month traineeship at the daily newspaper Neue Westfälische , Karina Odenthal studied literature at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . During her studies she worked as an assistant in the directing and dramaturgy department at the Theater der Stadt Heidelberg and was employed as a dramaturgy assistant after completing her studies. Engagements as acting and chief dramaturge took her to the Landestheater Coburg , the Stadttheater Würzburg and the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern , and she also worked as a lecturer for the theater department of S. Fischer Verlag . After long stays abroad and travels (primarily South Asia), she has been working as a freelance dramaturge, editor, author and lecturer for creative writing since 2005. Karina Odenthal is a member of the Dramaturgische Gesellschaft , the Association of German Writers and the crime writers' association Mörderische Schwestern / Sisters in Crime .

  • Thurn-und-Taxis Prize of the Bavarian Theatertage (patron August Everding) for “Best Dramaturgy” on the occasion of the parallel productions Summer Guests by Maxim Gorki (Director: Tebbe Harms Kleen) and Trilogy of Reunion by Botho Strauss (Director: Hermann Molzer) on Stadttheater Würzburg, awarded by Gloria Fürstin zu Thurn und Taxis.
  • Literature Prize (4th place) of the German Filmmuseum Berlin at the crime thriller competition on the occasion of the exhibition Die Kommissarinnen , awarded by the film museum director Hans Helmut Prinzler and jury chairman Iris Berben for the text The man with the cello .
  • Literature grant from the Hessian Literature Council (Association of German Writers / LB Hessen & Hessian Ministry for Science and Art) in autumn 2008 with residence in Vilnius, Lithuania.
  • Literature prize of the Kasperl fanatical competition of the VHS Vienna (as part of the EU project FIT: against fanaticism) for the play In Teufels Küche , Kasperl cabaret for adults.
