History and structure
The Dramaturgical Society was founded in Berlin in 1956 and emerged from the Dramaturgical Working Group established in 1953 . In addition to dramaturges, there are directors , artistic directors , actors , publishers and journalists among its members. It has around 600 association members, 10 of them corporate (as of June 2011). Honorary members are Manfred Beilharz , Klaus Pierwoß and Peter Spuhler .
At the general meeting in Jena 2019, the following members were elected to the board: Kathrin Bieligk, Kerstin Grübmeyer, Dorothea Hartmann, Karin Kirchhoff, Uwe Gössel (deputy chairman), Beata Anna Schmutz and Harald Wolff (chairman). Jana Thiele is the managing director of the association.
tasks and goals
The goals of the Dramaturgische Gesellschaft are the discussion and formulation of artistic and socio-political positions as well as the perception and assertion of professional interests. She wants to raise the public awareness of the aesthetic-conceptual and artistic-socio-political aspects of dramaturgy . This is to be achieved by promoting the exchange of experience among its members and other interested parties, working with other institutions and associations, promoting young talent, providing statements on cultural-political developments, providing information on dramaturgical issues and providing speakers.
Since 1983, the association has published a specialist journal twice a year, which was called "Dramaturg" until 2005 and has since been published under the title "dramaturgy" .
In January 1997, the Young Dramaturgy Forum was formed within the Dramaturgische Gesellschaft , which is intended to be a discussion space for young dramaturges and other interested parties, so that they can read and discuss new plays with the authors beyond the current theater business.
The interdisciplinary discussion group Forum Diskurs Dramaturgie (also Forum DD ) has existed since May 2008 . It is coordinated by the dramaturge Natalie Driemeyer and the political scientist Jan Deck. The working group dg: Possible Makers, founded by Christine Böhm, Lene Grösch and Christa Hohmann, aims to make it easier for budding dramaturges to start their professional life. Sascha Förster and Kaja Jakstat, with their working group 'Dramaturgy without Drama', deal with the concept of dramaturgy in the field of theater performances. Since the 2011 annual conference in Freiburg on the topic of 'Theater in the Intercultural Society', there has been a working group of the same name, founded by Brigitte Dethier, Hans-Peter Frings and Josef Mackert.
