Beata Anna Schmutz (born May 5, 1975 in Danzig ) is a German - Polish dramaturge and theater director .

Life

Beata Anna Schmutz initially studied German at the University of Danzig and continued her studies with a degree in art history , education and literature at the University of Heidelberg . From 2000 to 2005 she worked as an art educator and art historian at the Kunsthalle Mannheim and as artistic director of theater, art and media educational projects. From 2005 to 2016 she was a cultural pedagogue for the City of Heidelberg at the Haus der Jugend, where she was in charge of the arts and theater departments. In 2005 she founded the theater and performance collective Theater Performance Kunst RAMPIG , which she has been artistic director since then. She has been working as a freelance director and dramaturge since 2006 and has received university lectureships in the fields of aesthetic education , post-dramatic theater and performance . From 2016 to 2018 Beata Anna Schmutz headed the Volkstheater division at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . Since 2018 she has been the artistic director of the Mannheim City Ensemble at the Nationaltheater Mannheim . She has also been a member of the board of the Dramaturgische Gesellschaft since 2017, and a guest member of the City of Mannheim's Women's Culture Council since 2019 . Beata Anna Schmutz specializes in participatory work and contemporary forms of drama and performance in the context of spatial installations .
