Theater performance art RAMPIG

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Theater performance art RAMPIG is a freely-creating theater - and performance - collective . Founded in 2005 by Beata Anna Schmutz in Heidelberg, the group has been organized as a non-profit organization based in Mannheim since 2012. The members who live in different cities and have different artistic focuses form an interdisciplinary working group for the duration of a production, which is expanded to include guest artists from various genres.

Working method

The group's productions are mostly based on works from classical literature, which combine motifs and quotes from popular and high culture with the help of new drama and thus aim to abolish conventional narrative narrative methods. The working method of the collective combines performance with contemporary forms of acting in the context of spatial installations . The projects are characterized by specific spatial solutions and the inclusion of the visual and visual arts. A thematic focus of the collective is the exploration of theatrical boundaries and the boundaries of art genres . In previous works, the traditional boundary between the audience and the theater has also been thematized. Conceptually, the group wants to explore the relationship between art and real life. A cross-border art experience is to be made possible, in which the audience autonomously decides on the role of the active participant, the recipient of the artwork or the silent observer. In recent productions, increasingly immersive strategies have been pursued for this . The strong connection between the visual and performing arts requires a way of working that can be described as curating in the game.
