Karl-August Zimmermann

Karl-August Zimmermann (born September 17,  1927 in Duisburg , † February 17,  2004 in Voerde (Niederrhein) ) was a German ironworker and manager of the German steel industry.

Life

Karl-August Zimmermann studied metallurgy at the Clausthal mining academy . In 1950 he became active in the Corps Montania Clausthal . In 1954 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. From the Faculty of Mining and Metallurgy at the Clausthal Mining Academy. PhD. He then joined the Thyssen Group , where, after positions in production, he was promoted to a board member responsible for the technology department. The commissioning of what was then Europe's largest blast furnace in Hamborn and the elimination of acoustical problems that arose during commissioning took place in the early days of his position on the board . After an internal conflict with Dieter Spethmann in 1984 , he lost his department and was a member of the board with no competencies.

Zimmermann was a member of the supervisory boards of Rasselstein AG and AEG Aktiengesellschaft. He was also a member of the iron and steel industry employers' association. From 1989 to 1994 he was chairman of the steel institute VDEh .
