Hans Jürgen Kerkhoff

Hans Jürgen Kerkhoff (* 7. November 1956 in Süchteln , Niederrhein ) is president and chief executive of the German Steel Federation and Chairman of the Steel Institute VDEh .

Life

Kerkhoff studied German and philosophy with a focus on politics and technology at the University of Düsseldorf . He also studied economics at Cambridge .

Parallel to his studies, he worked as an assistant in the German Bundestag, where he dealt with the budget committee.

In 1987 he started at the German Steel Federation . After four years as assistant to President Ruprecht Vondran in Bonn, he headed the association's Brussels office for eight years. In 1999 he became responsible for the Politics division at the Düsseldorf Steel Center . In 2003 he became managing director of the steel trade association. From 2004 to 2008 he was the general manager of the association. On April 1, 2008, he replaced Dieter Ameling as President of the German Steel Federation and Chairman of the Steel Institute VDEh.

Kerkhoff is married and has four children.
