Lennox Kilgour
Lennox Stanislaus Kilgour (born May 5, 1928 in Saint James , † 2004 ) was a weightlifter from Trinidad and Tobago .
Career
Kilgour, who was nicknamed "Gour", began lifting weights in 1943 at the age of 15 and became the Trinidad Junior Champion in 1946. Although he already had a top performance of 402.5 kg in the heavyweight division in 1948 and was therefore a medal candidate, he was not sent to the 1948 Olympic Games in London . Like Rodney Wilkes , he could not start at world championships because the Weightlifting Association of Trinidad did not have the financial means to send its athletes on the long journeys to Europe . Kilgour's coaches included Freddy Mendes and Alexander Chapman. He had the high point of his career when he won the Olympic bronze medal in Helsinki in 1952 .
He ended his active career after the Olympic Games in 1956 and then lived in Trinidad as a fitness trainer.
