Ruprecht Vondran

Ruprecht Vondran (born December 31, 1935 in Göttingen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Bundestag .

Life

Vondran graduated from the Tellkampf School in Hanover in 1955 . He studied law at the Universities of Göttingen, Bonn and Bologna ( Bologna Center of the Johns Hopkins University ). In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . He gained first notoriety, also with the federal government and secret services, in 1957 as chairman of the AStA of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen by organizing a trip to Poland for a delegation of students in the middle of the Cold War . In Poland there had previously been workers' unrest in the course of de-Stalinization in the autumn of 1956. He passed the second state examination in Bavaria in 1966. From 1967 Vondran worked for the Iron and Steel Industry Association and headed its offices in Brussels and Tokyo for several years. In 1978, Vondran was appointed general manager of the Iron and Steel Association, an office which he resigned in 1993. The doctor of law moved in 1987 via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia as a member of the German Bundestag and stayed there for two electoral terms until 1994.

From 1988 to 2000 he was president of the steel trade association in Düsseldorf. Vondran is chairman of the Ernst Poensgen Foundation.

He has been heavily involved in Japanese-German economic relations since the 1960s . He is honorary chairman of the German-Japanese business group in Düsseldorf, one of the largest business associations with reference to Japan. He is also President of the Association of German-Japanese Societies .

Vondran is one of two German bearers of the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun with Stars, Golden and Silver Rays (awarded in 2003). It is the second highest award that the Japanese state bestows on foreigners.
