from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl-Dirk Kammeyer (born October 10, 1944 in Ahlhorn ) is a German researcher in the field of communications engineering and digital signal processing . He is currently a professor at the Institute for Telecommunications and High Frequency Technology in the communications engineering department at the University of Bremen .

Current research focuses on OFDM , multi-antenna systems for mobile radio transmission, audio and speech signal processing as well as methods for channel estimation and equalization. He is the author of four textbooks and numerous scientific publications.

Life

After graduating from the Gerhard-Rohlfs-Gymnasium in Bremen-Vegesack , Kammeyer studied electrical engineering at the TU Berlin from 1964 to 1971 . At the same time, he took a supplementary course to become a sound engineer at the Berlin University of Music. After graduating in communications engineering, he worked as a research assistant from 1972 to 1973 at the Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin and from 1973 to 1974 at the Saarland University in Saarbrücken . From 1974 to 1979 he worked at Hans Wilhelm Schüßler's chair for communications engineering at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , where he completed his dissertation in 1977 with the title Analysis of the Quantization Error in Distributed Arithmetic and received his doctorate .

He then took up a position as an academic advisor at the University of Paderborn and received his habilitation in 1985 in communications engineering with Wido Kumm . In 1984 he was appointed as a university professor for Digital Signal Processing at the Technical University of Hamburg .

Since 1995 he has been professor of communications engineering at the University of Bremen , where he headed the communications engineering department (ANT) until 2010.
