Karl-Heinz Boettner

Karl-Heinz Böttner (* 1933 ) is a German guitarist . For many years he was a professor of guitar at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne .

life and work

In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Karl-Heinz Böttner taught guitar at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf . At the first Burg Waldeck Festival in 1964, he gave a Handel concert.

In 1963/64 he switched to the Rheinische Musikschule in Cologne , where he also taught guitar. He was one of those full-time lecturers who, in the course of the musical separation of lay and vocational training, transferred to the Cologne University of Music in 1968 in accordance with a changed concept of the German Music Council (DMR) . He was later awarded the title of professor. Böttner taught classical guitar for many years; his students include Leonhard Beck , Frank Bungarten , Udo Herbst, Wulfin Lieske and Albrecht Zummach .

In the early 1970s he worked in the Wired improvisation ensemble with the US composer and percussionist Michael Ranta and the Canadian guitarist Michael Mike Lewis (1973/74: LP for Box Free Improvisation ).
