Karl-Heinz Tiemann

Karl-Heinz Tiemann (born June 28, 1940 in Peitschendorf , Sensburg district ) is a German agricultural scientist .

Tiemann was born the son of Marie and Heinrich Tiemann, a gardener, in Peitschendorf in East Prussia . In 1946 the family fled to Altenwerder via Stettin . That is where his father came from. From 1947 to 1953 he attended the Altenwerder elementary school. Then he went to the Albrecht-Thaer-Gymnasium in Hamburg and graduated from high school in 1961. From 1961 he studied biology at the University of Hamburg . In July 1968 he received his diploma in botany and zoology .

In October 1968 Tiemann started as a research assistant at the fruit growing research institute in Moorende . In January 1974 he succeeded Ernst-Ludwig Loewel as head of the fruit growing research institute.

Tiemann has been retired since July 1, 2005 and Karsten Klopp is his successor.
