Karl-Josef Schulte

Karl-Josef Schulte (born August 10, 1888 in Hagen ; † August 24, 1966 in Minden ) was the head of the Münster School Council.

Career

After graduating from high school in Hagen in 1908, Karl-Josef Schulte studied German, history and Latin in Freiburg , Berlin and Münster and received his doctorate on October 16, 1911 in Münster. The major state examination followed in February 1912. After a year of seminars at the Paulinum in Münster and a probationary year at the Neheim secondary school , he became a study assessor here. He had to do military service from March 1916 and was taken prisoner by the French on April 18, 1917. After his release in February 1920 he was able to go back to work in Neheim and became a teacher here. On March 1, 1927, Schulte began his service as director of studies and head of the state advanced school in Braunsberg / East Prussia . He returned to his native Westphalia and on April 1, 1930, became a senior school officer in the Münster Provincial School College. He stayed in this position until he was transferred to the Hohenzollern-Gymnasium in Düsseldorf , where he had to hold the office of a student council. Schulte was given leave of absence in autumn 1941 and took early retirement on May 1, 1942 "for health reasons". Transfer and leave of absence were connected with the Nazi regime . After the war, Schulte returned to his profession and became a senior school councilor and department head for higher education in the Münster Higher Presidium . At the end of 1945 he was appointed government director and, in August 1948, he was entrusted with the management of the Münster School Council. His normal term of service was extended by one year in 1953, so that he went into retirement on September 30, 1954.

Karl-Josef Schulte was a member of the center and at times its district chairman in Neheim.
