Karl Adolf Mirus (born February 27, 1829 in Leisnig ; † November 21, 1907 there ) was a Saxon court advisor , lawyer and notary.

Life

Karl Adolf Mirus was born as the son of the mayor and lawyer Carl Moritz Mirus (1800–1873) and his wife Albertine Mirus, b. Wapler (1805–1870) born. Raised privately up to the age of 16, he attended the Kreuzschule in Dresden between 1845 and 1849 . From 1849 to 1852 he studied in Leipzig , where he received his Dr. jur. PhD. From 1857 he worked as a lawyer and notary in Leisnig. In 1860 he married Auguste Buhle (1831–1900). Five years later his daughter Theodora Elisabeth Vollmöller (1865–1934, called "Dora") was born. Karl Vollmöller (1848–1922) married.

When Adolf's wife died of a heart attack before him, he set a permanent memorial to her and himself in his hometown of Leisnig: he had the church tower of St. Matthäi restored and raised at his own expense. In 1901 he was a member of the Saxon regional synod.

Mirus was an accomplished genealogist and founded in 1902 for the parents' offspring to Mirus- and Waplerbund. He was one of the founders of the history and antiquity club in Leisnig and was chairman of other clubs. Numerous contributions in his "Mitteilungen" testify to his historical interest.

From 1879 Mirus was a Saxon councilor, in 1891 he became an honorary citizen of his hometown. Since 1883 he spent the summer months in his summer house "Gottfried" in Tölz in Upper Bavaria , which since 1891 was also used by his daughter Dora and his son-in-law Karl Vollmöller. Mirus died on November 21, 1907 in Leisnig, where he is also buried.
