Karl Adolf Schott von Schottenstein

Karl Adolf Schott von Schottenstein (born January 17, 1723 , † November 9, 1786 in Osterode in Prussia ) was a royal Prussian major general and chief of Infantry Regiment No. 16 .

Schott von Schottenstein's family came from Franconia . His parents were Albrecht Adolf Schott von Schottenstein (born September 27, 1684), a privy councilor in Hessen-Kassel and a knight of the Falcon and Fidelite Order, and Henriette Julia von Lauterbach (born 1699).

In 1740 he came to the newly established Infantry Regiment No. 40 (Sachsen-Eisenach), was second lieutenant in 1742 and premier lieutenant in 1747. In 1758 he became a staff captain and in 1759 a real captain. On March 20, 1762 he was appointed major, on June 26, 1772 as lieutenant colonel and, in 1776, as colonel. In 1778 he became the commander of the 49th Infantry Regiment (Black). On May 28, 1782 the king appointed him major general and made him chief of Infantry Regiment No. 16 (Buddenbrock). In April 1785 he was released at his own request and received a pension of 1200 thalers. He died in Osterode in Prussia in 1786.

During the Silesian Wars he fought in the siege of Prague (1744) , Schweidnitz and the Peenemünder Schanze in the battles of Prague , Zorndorf , Kolin and Kay . He was captured by Austria only when Budweis was captured in 1744 .
