Karl Adolf "Schnucki" Andritz (born May 13, 1914 in Fischamend , † December 19, 1993 ) was an Austrian football player on the position of defender .

Life

Karl Andritz began his career in the youth team of the Brigittenauer AC and in 1931 played his way into the club's combat team . In 1933, the then only 19-year-old defensive talent moved to Austria Wien and was also part of the big Austria team, which won the Mitropacup , the forerunner of today's European Cup, in 1936 when Camillo Jerusalem scored in the final against Sparta Prague .

The defender was called up three times for the Austrian national team , always together with his club colleague, the wonder team player Karl Sesta , with whom he set up the defense. Andritz made his debut on September 27, 1936 in Budapest in the 5-3 defeat of the Austrians against Hungary . The Viennese only got their second use again in 1937 when they narrowly won 2-1 in qualifying for the 1938 World Cup against Latvia . The international match against Hungary on October 10, 1937 (1: 2 home defeat) marked the end of his short career in the national team. Andritz was still in the squad for the next and, for the time being, last game in Austria, but was not used. For the Reich German selection, Andritz (after the annexation of Austria to the Third Reich ) found no appointment.

After the war he played for Vienna Austria until 1947. When he was no longer used in the top Austrian league, Andritz wanted to end his career at the lower-class Fischamend sports club . After moving to the Lower Austrian regional league club SV Gloggnitz, the now 35-year-old blossomed again and led the small club from Gloggnitz to the newly founded Austrian State Football League . After this success he finally ended his career in 1949 and retired from football.
