Ludwig Karl Döring (born May 28, 1917 in Grüna; † after 1979) was a German diplomat .

Life

After graduating from high school , Döring completed a course of studies and, after completing his doctorate, joined the foreign service . On July 13, 1953, he joined the Foreign Office and was, among other things, Legation Councilor at the legation in Yugoslavia .

In June 1961 he became first ambassador to Cameroon as first class counselor and held this office until he was replaced by Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner in 1966. During his tenure there in early 1962 there was a scandal over the negotiations on the contribution of German development aid for Cameroon, whereby the then President of Cameroon Ahmadou Ahidjo Döring and other members of the German delegation wanted to prevent their departure from Yaoundé . In the course of these events, the German negotiator and ministerial director in the Federal Ministry of Economics, Hans Albert Görs, suffered a heart collapse. In March 1963 he wrote a report in advance of Ahidjo's state visit to the Federal Republic. Subsequently, as a lecturer in the Legation Council, he was deputy head of department for economic relations with the East in the Foreign Office.

After a subsequent assignment as envoy and permanent representative of the ambassador to Argentina in the early 1970s, he succeeded Hardo Brückner as ambassador in Zaire in 1973 and also dealt in this role with the conclusion of development aid contracts for the government of President Mobutu Sese Seko and one fair distribution of aid to those affected, as in 1977 for the city of Kolwezi . From 1978 to 1979 he was ambassador to New Zealand .
