Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner called von Wildau (also Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner-Wildau ; born March 11, 1912 in Görlitz ; † January 5, 1984 in Bonn ) was a German forester , hunter , diplomat and politician ( CDU ).

family

Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner was the son of the DNVP General Secretary Hans-Erdmann von Lindeiner-Wildau .

He was first married to Elisabeth-Sophia Johanna Augusta Huberta Maria Michaela Ignatia Countess von Merveldt (1920–2017), later with a second marriage to Gerda Anna Countess von Schwerin (born July 10, 1920).

Education, military service and occupation

Von Lindeiner studied forest science until 1939 . Since 1933 he was a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . At the beginning of the Second World War he was immediately enlisted and eventually seriously wounded in the Battle of Stalingrad . After the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler on July 20, 1944 , he was arrested.

His professional career began immediately after the end of the war, when he joined the North Rhine-Westphalian State Forest Service in 1945, where he was involved in rebuilding the forest administration until his time as a member of the Bundestag.

Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner was a member of the CDU and was a member of the German Bundestag from September 8, 1959, when he replaced Heinrich Lübke , who was elected Federal President , until 1961. During this time he was mainly active in the field of hunting policy and was involved in the amendment of the Federal Hunting Act 1961.

Public offices

Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner then worked as a lecturer in the first class of the German Foreign Office and succeeded Karl Döring as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Yaoundé , Cameroon from 1966 to 1971 .

As a well-known personality in the field of hunting, Hanns-Gero von Lindeiner participated in the international hunting exhibitions in Berlin in 1937 and in Düsseldorf in 1954. He also incorporated his knowledge of hunting policy into his work as a member of the Bundestag and from 1972 to 1979 he was the head of the German delegation to the International Council for the Conservation of Hunting and Game (Conseil International de la Chasse et de la Conservation du Gibier, CIC) . He processed his experiences in the book Bunte Beute. About game, hunting and hunters in our time , published in 1981 by Paul Parey Verlag , Hamburg .

Honors

In 1968 the diplomat initially received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . Not least for his work in the CIC, the Federal President awarded him the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
