Karl Dörr (born September 27, 1949 in Groß-Umstadt ) is a former German politician ( SPD ) and member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1969, Karl Dörr worked from 1969 to 1971 as a police enforcement officer for the Federal Border Guard . He then studied political science and history from 1971 to 1978 and did his legal clerkship for teaching at grammar schools.

From 1978 to 1985 he worked as a teacher in Frankfurt. From 1985 to 1987 Dörr was an employee in the ministerial office and personal assistant to the Hessian minister of education . After the red-green election defeat, he worked as a teacher at the open school in Babenhausen from 1987 to 1991 .

Karl Dörr is a Protestant, married and has two children.

Karl Dörr has been a member of the SPD since 1970.

In terms of local politics, he has been the city ​​councilor of the city of Groß-Umstadt since 1972 (of which since 1997: Chairman of the city ​​council assembly ). At times he was also a member of the district council in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district from 1985 to 1996.

For three electoral terms, from April 5, 1991 to February 2, 2003, Karl Dörr was a member of the Hessian state parliament for the constituency of Darmstadt-Dieburg II . From February 1999 to January 2003 he was chairman of the cultural policy committee in the state parliament.
