Karl Eduard Erdmann (* 25 May July / 6 June  1841 greg. In Wolmar , Livonia Gouvernement ; † 27 October July / 8 November  1898 greg. In Dorpat ) was a German-Baltic jurist and professor at the university Dorpat .

Life

Karl Eduard Erdmann grew up as the son of the Wolmarer country doctor and later university professor Johann Julius Friedrich Erdmann in an educated middle-class environment. He studied philosophy and law in Dorpat from 1858 to 1863 and law in Heidelberg from 1863 to 1864 . During his time in Heidelberg he became an honorary member of the Corps Baltica Zurich . After completing his studies, he returned to Livonia and in 1864 became assistant to the city secretary in Mitau , in 1865 deputy secretary of the criminal department, in 1866 first city secretary, in 1869 syndic of the city of Mitau and in 1870 deputy syndic of the University of Dorpat, where he became Dr. jur. PhD. From 1870 he was also a private lecturer. In 1872 he became an associate professor and in 1873 a full professor of provincial law and legal practice at the University of Dorpat.

From 1878 he was also a city councilor and from 1878 to 1894 deputy to the city council. He was retired in 1894 as a Real Councilor of State and lived in Dorpat, where he died in autumn 1898 after a brief illness.
