Karl Enslin

Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand Enslin (born September 21, 1819 in Frankfurt am Main ; † October 14, 1875 there ) was a German school teacher and poet.

life and work

Enslin was trained at the teachers' seminar in Esslingen . In 1843 he returned to his hometown and became a teacher at the white women and at the model school , from 1860 at the Katharinenschule. He wrote many poems and stories for children and published a Frankfurt book of legends. Many of his poems were set to music by Philipp Friedrich Silcher , Carl Reinecke , Carl Loewe , Gustav Rochlich and Benedikt Widmann .
