Karl Friedrich Hülsen

Karl Friedrich Hülsen (born July 4, 1794 in Premnitz ( Westhavelland district ), † March 9, 1858 in Münster ) was a royal Prussian major general and most recently commander of the 40th Infantry Regiment .

origin

His parents were the Premnitz preacher Karl Heinrich Hülsen (* July 3, 1758 - February 18, 1836) and his wife Justine Marie Christiane Herrmann (* September 26, 1767 - March 7, 1835).

Life

He went to school in Rathenow and signed up on February 6th as a volunteer hunter for the 1st Guards Regiment on foot . There he was still in 1813 Oberjäger and on May 7, 1814 Second Lieutenant. During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Leipzig , Brienne , Paris and Arcis-sur-Aube . He was wounded in the battle near Charleroi and earned the Iron Cross 2nd class .

On November 27, 1816 he was aggregated into the 3rd and 4th hunter divisions and classified on April 21, 1817. There he became Premier-Lieutenant on September 27, 1821 before he was transferred to the 27th Infantry Regiment as a captain and company commander on March 30, 1837. On March 30, 1840, he was transferred to the 14th Infantry Regiment, but his patent was backdated to May 28, 1832. On March 28, 1841, he was appointed major and transferred to the 15th Landwehr Regiment as commander of the 2nd battalion. On March 31, 1846 he was transferred from the battalion to the 15th Infantry Regiment, where he was appointed lieutenant colonel on November 19, 1849. On April 17, 1851, he joined the 40th Infantry Regiment as commander. He was promoted to colonel on April 19, 1851 and received the Order of the Red Eagle 3rd Class with Swords on the Ring on June 30, 1852 . On April 2, 1855, he received his retirement with a pension and regimental uniform , on June 25, 1857, his pension was put up for discussion , and on January 7, 1858, he was given the character of major general. He died shortly afterwards on March 9, 1858 in Münster.

family

He married on July 4, 1825 in Halle Friederike Auguste Schwarz († March 31, 1833) and after the death of his first wife on November 15, 1838 in Tuchheim, Mathilde Ernstine Sprengel (* February 21, 1818; † January 30, 1893). He had five daughters and five sons, including:
