Karl Friedrich Kunz

Karl Friedrich Kunz (born May 26, 1904 in Herzogswalde , Mohrungen district ( East Prussia ), † January 18, 1969 in Berlin-Kladow ) was a German painter .

Life

Kunz was the 12th child of a wheelwright . From 1920 he received painting lessons from Fritz Pfuhle in Danzig . He had a lifelong friendship with him. In 1925 he was able to buy back the indebted parental farm. After a year of study in Dresden , he moved to his home town in 1927. There he painted the landscapes of Masuria and the East Prussian Oberland . He was often in Pillkoppen and Nidden . In 1935 he toured the Canary Islands , North Africa and Italy . In 1936 he married Ilse Kirsch . In the battle for East Prussia he lost all his works. He and his family fled to Dresden, where they survived the air raids on Dresden . In West Berlin he started over. Most recently he lived in his house in Kladow. Karl Kunz was a member of the German Association of Artists .

In the spring of 2008 , the East Prussian State Museum showed pictures by Kunz in an exhibition .
