Herbert Wilhelmi
Herbert Wilhelmi (born November 4, 1895 in Insterburg , † September 19, 1983 in Reinbek ) was a German organist, music teacher and composer.
Life
Wilhelmi studied music education and church music at the Academic University of Music in Berlin , where he began as an organist in 1920. In 1924 he was appointed music director to Tilsit . In 1937 he was the last organist at Königsberg Cathedral . At the same time he was a lecturer at the Institute for School and Church Music. After the Second World War he was professor of music education in Wuppertal.
He made a contribution to the preservation of the East Prussian songs .
In 1964 he received the East Prussian Landsmannschaft culture award .
