Carl Friedrich von Zocha

Carl Friedrich von Zocha (born July 1, 1683 in Gunzenhausen ; † July 24, 1749 in Ansbach ) was the chief building director, privy councilor and minister of the Brandenburg-Ansbach margraviate .

Carl Friedrich von Zocha, originally a lawyer, drafted the plans for the reconstruction of the Ansbach residence in 1725 , which was completed under his successor as building director, Leopoldo Retti . Von Zocha led the reconstruction of the castle in Unterschwaningen , where Friederike Luise von Prussia , sister of Friedrich II. , Lived until her death.

At the end of his life, von Zocha got into debt so badly that his private library, consisting of a good 14,500 volumes, had to be auctioned after his death and was scattered all over the world.

The master builder of Carl Friedrich von Zocha's plans was often Johann David Steingruber .
