Karl Goeriz

Karl Wilhelm Friedrich Göriz (born November 3, 1802 in Stuttgart , † February 5, 1853 in Tübingen ) was a German agricultural scientist .

Göriz, son of a postal secretary, studied agriculture at the Agricultural Academy Hohenheim from 1819 , then botany and forest science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . He then worked as an intern and administrator in farms.

On several educational trips he studied the practice of viticulture . In 1831 he accepted an appointment as professor of agriculture at the Agricultural Academy Hohenheim. His teaching and research focus lay in the fields of plant production theory, agricultural technology and agricultural management. In 1845 he was appointed professor of agriculture and forestry at the University of Tübingen. Here he devoted himself mainly to agricultural management.
