Karl Götze (Colonel)

Karl Götze (born February 20, 1913 in Ludwigslust , Mecklenburg ; † August 10, 1987 in Hervel , Westphalia ) was a German colonel on the general staff who served in both German air forces.

biography

He was drafted into the police on October 9, 1933 . On August 1, 1935, transferred to the Air Force at the Berlin-Eiche Air War School (today Havellandkaserne ) for an officer training course. Outstanding in his vita is the destruction of a large number of Allied tanks by his flak regiment in the Battle of Arras in 1940. This subsequently opened the doors to various general staff positions for him. After the end of the war he was involved in the reconstruction of the German air defense in the Bundeswehr.

  • October 1, 1938 Promoted to first lieutenant.
  • July 1, 1939 First Lieutenant, from III./Flak-Rgt. 64 to I./Flak-Abt. 37 and appointed battery chief.
  • July 19, 1940 Promoted to captain.
  • July 21, 1940 Awarded the Knight's Cross , Chef 1./Flak-Rgt. 37 (mot) after the battle of Arras .
  • October 5, 1940 Adjutant in the staff / flak brig. IV.
  • August 1, 1941 Ia op 2 in the staff / air district command. XI.
  • November 1, 1942 Captain, seconded to Ia / Luftgaukdo. XI (or VIII?).
  • March 1, 1943 Ia in the staff / Luftgaukdo. XI, promoted to major and transferred to the General Staff d.Lw. (did not attend the Air War Academy). Transferred by the staff / Luftgaukdo. XI to staff / 8. Flak division, deployed as Ia.
  • February 1, 1944 posted as Ia / 7. Flak Div. (until 07.44).
  • August 1944 at the staff / Komm.Gen.d.Lw. Denmark.
  • August 16, 1944 Major, deployed as Ia / 1. Flak Division.
  • January 1945 assigned to Staff II./Flakkorps.
  • March 1945 in RLM pool. (n. d.)

Bundeswehr career

  • 1959 lieutenant colonel; Commander of LwFlaBtl 41 in Essen / Kupferdreh from 04/1959 to 05/1960.
  • 1961 colonel; Head of the Air Force Air Defense Liaison Command in Fort Bliss / Texas
  • 1965 Commander of FlaRakRgt 4 now in Bremervörde .
  • 1966 seconded to the HAWK MANAGEMENT OFFICE in Paris.

Retired with the rank of colonel.
