Karl Gengler
Karl Gengler (born October 8, 1886 in Hagenau , Alsace ; † October 9, 1974 in Rottweil , according to his birth certificate Carl Gengler ) was a German politician ( center , CDU ).
Life and work
Gengler was born in 1886 as the son of Johann Gengler and his later wife Barbara Gengler, née Gangloff, in the city of Hagenau in Alsace. At the time of his birth, his parents were not married. He was born as Carl Gangloff and renamed Carl Gengler on January 10, 1893 after his parents got married. Gengler, who was a Roman Catholic , became managing director of the AOK in Rottweil in 1945 . In 1948/49 he was President of the State Labor Office for Württemberg-Hohenzollern .

From 1919 to 1933 Gengler was a member of the state parliament of the Württemberg state parliament for the center .
After the Second World War, Gengler helped found the CDU. He was elected President at the constituent meeting of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Württemberg-Hohenzollern on November 22, 1946. On February 21, 1947, he was injured in a traffic accident on the way from Bebenhausen to Rottweil , so that he could only take part in the last session of the National Advisory Assembly on May 9, 1947. He remained President of the Landtag in the Württemberg-Hohenzollern Landtag from 1947 to 1952. From the first election until 1957, he was a member of the German Bundestag . He won the direct mandate in the constituency of Rottweil in 1949 and 1953 . In the Bundestag he was deputy chairman of the committee for rules of procedure and immunity and also deputy chairman of the organization committee until June 7, 1950 .
After leaving the Bundestag, he was district chairman of the CDU in Rottweil from 1957 to 1960.
