Karl Gerbig

Karl Gerbig (born February 6, 1888 in Eberswalde ; † January 17, 1971 there ) was a German organ builder in Eberswalde.

Life

He first learned organ building from Albert Kienscherf in Eberswalde and then went to the companies Sauer in Frankfurt (Oder), Klais in Bonn, Rother in Hamburg and Schuke in Potsdam. Afterwards Karl Gerbig returned to Kienscherf in Eberswalde and worked there.

In 1928 he took over the workshop in Jüdenstrasse and continued to run it as A. Kienscherf Nachf., Inh. Karl Gerbig . In 1961 he moved it to Weinbergstrasse. In 1965, Ulrich Fahlberg took over the company as an organ building workshop in Eberswalde .

Few new buildings by Karl Gerbig are known in Eberswalde and the surrounding area, the main focus of his work was repairs and maintenance of historical organs.
