Karl Gottlieb Umbreit
Karl Gottlieb Umbreit (born January 9, 1763 in Rehestädt ; † April 27, 1829 there ) was a German organist and composer .
Life
Umbreit was a student of Johann Christian Kittel in Erfurt and as such was a grandchild of Johann Sebastian Bach . In 1785 he became an organist in Sonneborn (Thuringia) . According to his son, he was dismissed from his post in 1817 at his own request due to illness. In his last years he withdrew to his hometown.
Umbreit wrote a general chorale book that appeared in Gotha in 1811.
