Karl Groenen

Karl Groenen (born February 1, 1939 in Mellrichstadt ) is a German farmer and politician ( CSU ).

Life

Groenen attended elementary school and agricultural vocational school and continued his education at an agricultural college. After an external apprenticeship in Windsbach , he successfully passed the agricultural assistant examination and the master’s examination . In 1970 he took over his parents' farm. From 1962 to 1966 he was a member of the district board of the Bavarian Young Farmers' Union in Lower Franconia and was then district chairman of the BBV - Mellrichstadt district association and chairman of the Mellrichstadt dairy cooperative. In 1979 he became president of the BBV in the Lower Franconia district association. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the Bavarian Raiffeisen Association and the board of directors of the Lower Franconian social security agencies and was a lay judge at the agricultural court in Schweinfurt . In 1990 he became chairman of the Bavarian meat testing ring and president of the European economic interest group Euro-Bio-Diesel.

Groenen was politically active from 1966 when he was first elected to the city council of Mellrichstadt. From 1972 to 1996 he was a member of the district council of the Rhön-Grabfeld district . From 1979 until its dissolution in 1999, he was also a senator in Bavaria. In 2011 he was elected honorary member of the CSU city association Mellrichstadt.
