Karl Grunert (actor)
Karl Grunert , also Carl Grunert (born January 16, 1810 in Leipzig , † September 27, 1869 in Stuttgart ) was a German theater actor , director and poet .
Life
Grunert attended the St. Thomas School in Leipzig . For a short time he devoted himself to studying theology, and in 1830 he took up the stage in Waldenburg. There he made his debut as "The Torch Boy in Verona" with a small traveling troupe.
He had his first permanent engagement from 1830 or 1832 in Augsburg, where he played with success in the field of character actor and hero.
In 1833 he went from Augsburg to the theater in Freiburg im Breisgau. It was there that he wrote his first lyric poems. In 1834 he was appointed to Hanover. From 1842 to 1846 he worked in Hamburg, then in Stuttgart.
In the mid-1860s, his creativity waned, and his idiosyncrasies increased so much that he drove many prompts to despair. But Grunert didn't want to hear about illness and played as long as possible. On June 30, 1869, he entered the stage for the last time as "Zettel" in a Midsummer Night's Dream ; shortly afterwards he died on September 27, 1869.
His main roles were tragic characters. At the same time a scientifically sound connoisseur of his art and full of poetry in its conception, he often gave dramatic lectures in Tübingen and received his doctorate in philosophy from the university there because of his psychological-aesthetic treatise "About Macbeth Character".
The artist was married twice. First marriage to the actress Amalie Rühle , who died in 1852. In 1855 he married the actress Martha Petitjean . From this marriage came the children Rudolf Karl Grunert and Therese Grunert , both also theater actors.
