Karl Gustav Clodt von Juergensburg
Karl Gustav Clodt of Jürgensburg (* 25. July 1765 near Reval ; † 22. July 1822 in Omsk ) was a Russian major general Baltic German descent from the noble family Clodt of Jürgensburg .
Life
His parents were Adolf Fredrik Clodt von Juergensburg (1738-1806) and his first wife Gertruda Sofia von Schwengelm (* August 15, 1742, † July 3, 1773).
In 1781 he began his service as a sergeant in the Bombardier Regiment of the Imperial Russian Army . In 1806 he became a colonel . He took part in the campaigns on the Danube from 1806 to 1810 , as well as in the Patriotic War against Napoleon . In 1812 he was promoted to major general and in 1813 was commandant of Bremen . He was considered a talented draftsman and silhouette cutter .
He had three sons:
- Woldemar Jakob Johann Clodt von Jürgensburg (1803-1887)
- Peter Jakob Clodt von Jürgensburg (1805–1867), professor at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg
- Konstantin Clodt von Jürgensburg (1807–1879), Russian major general
The painter Gustav Johann Heinrich Clodt von Jürgensburg (1776–1839) was his brother.
