Karl Heinz Taubert

Karl Heinz Taubert (born December 16, 1912 in Stettin ; † January 3, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German dance historian , music teacher and composer .

Life

Taubert studied piano with the minor subjects rhythm and ear training at the Berlin University of Music . After completing his studies, he began teaching there. The Academic University of Music Berlin , at which Taubert worked as a professor , was later merged with other artistic training institutions to form the Berlin University of the Arts (HdK Berlin, which has been called UdK Berlin since 2001 ). Since the 1950s he began to deal intensively with the history of dance , for which he presented numerous publications in the following decades. At the Berlin University of the Arts Taubert also founded the Ensemble Historischer Tanz , which he directed until his death and with which he also implemented his dance history studies for performance practice.

In 1990, the year he died, Karl Heinz Taubert was awarded the German Dance Prize, which he could no longer accept in person.
