Karl Heitzler (born May 7, 1839 in St. Pölten ; † May 2, 1923 there ) was an Austrian politician ( DFP ) and 19th mayor of St. Pölten as well as a lawyer and writer .

Life

Karl Heitzler was born on May 7, 1839 in St. Pölten as the son of a farrier. Due to his rather weak physique, he could not take up his father's profession and instead went to a Kremser grammar school. After Jus -Studies at the University of Vienna , he joined the law firm of Johann Ofner one.

In 1870 he founded his own law firm, his previous employer became mayor and was elected to the local council. There he applied for the establishment of the city ​​museum , the renovation of the city ​​theater and the establishment of some schools.

After the death of Mayor Otto Eybner and Vice Mayor Eugen Freiherr von Aichelburg in 1917, he took over the office of mayor as the longest serving councilor until the new election in 1919.

Heitzler was also an important coin collector, and was active as a painter and writer. He died on May 2, 1923 in his villa on St. Pölten's Park Promenade.
