Karl (von) Hess (* 1801 in Düsseldorf ; † November 10 or 16, 1874 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German painter.

Karl Hess, painter, brother of Heinrich Maria von Hess and Peter von Hess , received his art education in Munich since 1806 and, according to his father's wish, was to devote himself to the art of engraving and etching. But he soon gave in to his passion for painting. His role models were primarily Max Josef Wagenbauer and his brother Peter. His descriptions of mountain life are distinguished by their poetic conception, truth and excellent characteristics.
