Karl Hofmann (born July 11, 1926 in Pilnikau , Czechoslovakia , † January 18, 2012 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After attending school, Hofmann switched to the teacher training institute and passed his Abitur there. In 1944/45 he did Reich labor and military service . He was most recently taken prisoner of war, from which he was released in January 1946. He worked for ten years as a primary school teacher in Upper Franconia , completed a one-year training course for teaching at secondary schools in Munich and then worked for five years as a secondary school teacher in Kronach , most recently as a teacher. Hofmann joined the SPD in June 1961. In 1982 he left the party. He later became a member of the Free Voters .

Hofmann was a council member of the city ​​of Kronach and since 1972 a member of the Kronach district council . He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1965 to 1983. In parliament he represented the constituency of Coburg from 1965 to 1976 . In the remaining electoral periods he entered the Bundestag via the Bavarian state list . From April 1, 1982 until his resignation he was a non-attached MP .
