Karl Josef Raabe
Karl Josef Raabe (* 1780 in Deutsch-Wartenberg in Silesia ; † July 25, 1849 in Breslau ) was a German painter , engineer officer, geographer and architect . He received artistic training at the arts and crafts school in Breslau before going to the Weimar court in 1811 . There he painted miniature portraits of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Christoph Martin Wieland, among others . He also made a large number of landscape and history paintings.
In 1816 he became a member of the Dresden Academy . He also held a position as a building inspector in Erdmannsdorf . From 1829 he was finally a drawing teacher at the arts and crafts school in Breslau, where he also became a professor in 1841.
