Karl Julius Fritzsche

Karl Julius Fritzsche , also KJ Fritzsche (born March 30, 1883 in Leipzig , † October 12, 1954 in Munich ) was a German film producer .

Life

The son of a baker completed an apprenticeship in publishing and came across films in 1909, initially in sales. In 1914 he produced his first film with Checkmate , before he was drafted in 1915 and participated in the First World War until the end of the war in 1918.

In 1919 he founded his own film company, Transocean-Film. He produced several silent films and began working as a production manager and film financer in 1928 . After the seizure of power by the Nazis, he was able to extend its influence. Fritzsche was appointed head of production at Tobis -Magna in 1934 , and from 1940 he was head of production and technical studio manager at Tobis, and in 1942 also its economic director. He produced several prestigious works for the film company with its star Emil Jannings .

After the end of the war Fritzsche resumed his work in film in 1948. He founded the distribution company Deutsche London Filmverleih, which later also produced. In 1952 he founded Magna-Film.
