Karl Kässbohrer (born May 27, 1901 in Ulm ; † April 29, 1973 there ) was a German entrepreneur and vehicle manufacturer .

Live and act

As the son of Karl Heinrich Kässbohrer , after the sudden death of his father in 1922, he and his brother Otto took over the father's company, Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke .

In 1928 they decided to specialize in buses , trucks and trailers . In the period that followed, the company survived the economic crisis and the Second World War thanks to constant further developments and innovations.

Kässbohrer is known with the first bus se LBST tra gender and body rear engine of Henschel (S 8, 1951), the brand name is derived from the SETRA. The Kässbohrer developments of air suspension for commercial vehicles or the ball-bearing slewing ring (1929), the articulated bus and the PistenBully (1967) have also become indispensable in vehicle construction .

Karl Kässbohrer was married and had sons Heinrich, Ulrich and Otfried. Heinrich managed the Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke company from 1982 to 1995 in the third generation.
