Karl Franz Wilhelm Hubert Josef Körfer (born October 23, 1856 in Beuthen in Upper Silesia , † February 26, 1946 in Brakel ) was a Prussian district administrator.

Life

Karl Körfer was born as the son of the married couple Franz Körfer (mining inspector / general director) and Minna Bannerth and obtained his secondary school diploma on July 2, 1875 at the Gymnasium Beuthen. He did his military service as a one-year volunteer from October 1, 1876 to the end of September 1877 with the Guard Fusilier Regiment in Berlin and was second lieutenant here . He studied at the Universities of Strasbourg and Berlin law and insisted on 17 January 1879 at the Berlin Court of Appeal examining the court clerk with the result "properly". At higher regional court Breslau he was later hired a month as a court clerk and was on June 3, 1881 Government clerk at the district government Wroclaw . On March 19, 1884, Körfer passed the government assessor examination with "sufficient" and was transferred to the Aachen district government on April 31, 1884 as a government assessor . He was entrusted with the municipal administration of the district office of the Höxter district on April 8, 1887 and elected by the district council on June 22, 1888 with 10 out of 22 votes as the second candidate for the district office. Körfer was chosen by the Minister of the Interior in coordination with the provincial authorities for the office because the first candidate was not acceptable as district administrator according to his personality.

The definitive appointment as district administrator of the Höxter district was on August 6, 1888. He remained in this office until January 13, 1917. For health reasons (deafness) he had asked to be dismissed from civil service. In 1898 and 1902, Körfer was proposed for promotion by the district president in Minden as the most talented and efficient district administrator in the district. He was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia .

In 1908 the decision was made in Bad Driburg to build a central water supply and to name the spring "Koerfer-Quelle".
