Karl Larsen (Manager)

Karl Heinrich Christian Larsen (born February 25, 1900 in Würzburg , † October 11, 1978 in Cologne ) was President of the German Cooperative Association , one of the forerunners of the German Cooperative and Raiffeisen Association , and holder of the Great Federal Cross of Merit with a star.

Life

As a volunteer , he moved towards the end of World War I the field and was after the war in Würzburg in a volunteer corps . At the age of 19, Larsen began studying social and economic sciences in Frankfurt am Main . There he became active in the Moenania Landsmannschaft, which later became part of the Arminia fraternity in Frankfurt . After the state examination he received his doctorate on March 15, 1926 at the University of Frankfurt am Main with the thesis The economic development of the Landgraviate Hessen-Homburg 1816-1866 . Larsen then completed a banking apprenticeship.

In 1928 he became director of the Rheingauer Volksbank in Geisenheim am Rhein. In 1943 he was drafted as a lieutenant in the reserve and was in the field until the end of the war. After the end of the war he became chairman of the board of his Volksbank and campaigned strongly for the social market economy . He later became President of the German Cooperative Association in Bonn .

Larsen last lived in Geisenheim. He died in 1978 at the age of 78. He was widowed by Luise Elise Minna née Wagner, whom he married in Frankfurt am Main in 1927 .
