Karl Loidl

Karl Loidl (born October 1, 1893 in Strobl ; † May 9, 1965 in Bad Ischl ) was an Upper Austrian politician ( CSP / ÖVP ) and savings bank official. He was Provincial Councilor for Social Affairs and Hospitals in the Upper Austrian Provincial Government .

education and profession

Loidl visited the College Petrinum and put there the war Matura off before spending three years at the Imperial Rifle Regiment no. III in the First World War served. He fell into Italian captivity and ended his military service as a lieutenant in the reserve. After his release from captivity, he worked as an official of the tax office and the savings bank in Wildshut and then switched to the Central Bank of the German Savings Banks in Linz . He was then head of the Sparkasse Bad Ischl from June 1, 1931 to 1938. After the National Socialists came to power, Loidl was dismissed as director of the savings bank and transferred to the civil service. He was later drafted into the Wehrmacht , although he was dismissed from military service as a captain of the reserve after a riding accident. After the Second World War, he held the post of director of Sparkasse Bad Ischl again from 1945 to 1963.

Politics and functions

Loidl was involved in the Christian workers' and employee movement and contributed significantly to the expansion of the organization in the Salzkammergut . He founded a local group of the Central Association of Christian Employees in Bad Ischl and became district chairman for the Salzkammergut in the Christian workers' movement. Later he was the last regional chairman of the Catholic workers' movement in Upper Austria. Furthermore, he was the deputy chairman of the Freedom Association , a military association of the Christian trade union wing that positioned itself against the Heimwehr . Between 1920 and 1938 he worked as the Bad Ischl councilor and also acted as the successor to Anton Gasperschitz from February 1, 1935 to March 18, 1938 as the regional councilor for social affairs and hospitals as well as parts of the community affairs in the Gleißner II regional government . At the same time he was chairman of the social working group, the union of workers of the Fatherland Front .

After the end of the Second World War he was again a councilor in Bad Ischl between 1946 and 1949, where he represented the Austrian People's Party. In addition, he was active within the party from 1945 to 1952 as ÖVP local group chairman and from 1954 to 1959 as district chairman of the ÖVP Gmunden. He was also a member of the district school council of Gmunden.

Loidl was married and had one child.
