Karl Neumann

Karl Neumann (born October 17, 1939 in Holzminden ) is a German university professor for general education and school education . He carried out his teaching and research activities from 1980 to 1995 at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and from 1995 until his retirement in 2005 at the Technical University Carolo-Wilhelmina in Braunschweig . From 1999 to 2001 he was Vice President for Teaching, Studies and Further Education as well as International Relations at the TU Braunschweig .

Career

Karl Neumann was born in Holzminden ( Lower Saxony ). From 1959 to 1965 he studied philosophy , German , history and education at the universities of Göttingen , Berlin and Vienna . He then worked until 1980 at the Lower Saxony University of Education as a research assistant , academic adviser and university lecturer . During this time, in 1973, he published his dissertation Objectivity and Existential Meaning of the Beautiful - Investigations into Kant's Critique of Aesthetic Judgment . In 1980 he switched to the professorship for general pedagogy in the educational sciences department of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen.

In 1995 he was appointed to the professorship for school education at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he stayed until his retirement in 2005. From 1995 to 2009 he was scientific director of the department for university didactics, which in 2000 became the competence center for university didactics for Lower Saxony.

In addition, Neumann has been a member of the board of the International Froebel Society - Germany eV (IFS-D) since 2001 , chairman from 2007 and honorary chairman from 2015, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Froebel Society (IFS) to this day.

Research stays and lectures took him to the Sorbonne (Paris), the Universities of Oslo and Trondheim, the Tonji University in Shanghai and the Japanese universities of Hiroshima, Hyogo, Naruto, Fukuoka, Tokyo and Kyoto.

Since his retirement in 2005 he has mainly been doing Froebel research.
