Karl Otto Zimmer

Karl Otto Zimmer (born May 22, 1923 in Brüx , Czechoslovakia , † December 31, 2004 in Hildesheim ) was a judge at the German Federal Social Court .

After military service and captivity, Zimmer began studying law at the Universities of Halle and Bonn in 1948 . He passed the first state examination in law in 1952. After completing the legal preparatory service, the Great State Examination followed on November 22, 1955. After a brief activity as an assessor at the public prosecutor's office in Duisburg , he joined the Federal Ministry for Labor and Social Affairs in 1956. There he was appointed Ministerial Councilor in 1970 .

On July 13, 1972, Karl Otto Zimmer was appointed judge at the Federal Social Court. He belonged first to the 4th and 12th Senate and then to the 8th Senate. From 1974 to March 1985 he was a member and most recently deputy chairman of the 11th Senate. Until his retirement at the end of February 1987, he was deputy chairman of the 4th Senate, which was responsible for matters relating to workers' pension insurance as well as provisions for war victims and soldiers.

In 1953 he married Anna-Elisabeth Zimmer, née Wiesemann. The marriage produced five children and eight grandchildren.
