Karl Perseke

Karl Perseke (born November 13, 1843 in Czuchow , Rybnik district ( Silesia ), † March 17, 1907 in Bonn ) was a German agriculture teacher and specialist book author .

Live and act

Karl Perseke, son of a rent master , attended the grammar school in Leobschütz from 1854 to 1861 . He then completed an agricultural practice on several farms. From 1865 he attended the Agricultural Academy in Proskau , from 1865 he worked as an economic inspector on a domain in Silesia . In 1873 he began studying at the University of Leipzig . His main areas of study were natural sciences , economics and agriculture . In 1877 he received his doctorate there with the dissertation "On the change in shape of the roots in soil and water" . After completing his doctorate, he worked for a year with the agricultural scientist Adolph Blomeyer at the Agricultural Institute of the University of Leipzig.

In 1878 Perseke got a job as an agriculture teacher at the Michels School in Hildesheim . From 1886 to 1896 he was director of the agricultural winter school in Zülpich (Rhineland) and then in the same position until 1901 in Wetzlar .

Perseke was one of the main contributors to Thiel's Landwirthschaftliches Konversations-Lexikon , which appeared in seven monumental volumes between 1877 and 1882. He emerged as a specialist book author in 1896 with a pamphlet on weed control and in 1907 with two textbooks for agricultural schools.
