Karl Pracht , also Carl Pracht (born October 28, 1866 in Gramzow , Anklam district; † December 12, 1917 in Eberswalde ) was a German sculptor and medalist .

Live and act

He lived in Berlin , where he created a memorial for the poet Heinrich von Kleist in 1898 (Kleistherme); it was set up in 1899 in Viktoriapark in Berlin. Further works are the bust of the Münster artist Melchior Lechter (1865–1937), which was made in plaster in 1888 and has been lost, and the bronze bust of the historian Theodor Mommsen (1817–1903) from 1894, the cast of which was in the Theodor- Mommsen Memorial was established. Magnificently designed marble busts of the horseshoe nail manufacturer Clemens Schreiber and his wife, which are in the Eberswalde museum.

A bronze bust of the founder Wilhelm Conrad has been preserved in the Andreas Church in Berlin-Wannsee . Pracht also created small sculptures that ended up in the art trade, such as B. the 32 cm high bronze figure group "Artemis and Apollon". There is evidence that he was a member of the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft in 1899 . He died in Eberswalde, the funeral took place on December 15, 1917 in the forest cemetery there.
